Deep Tissue Massage

The term “deep tissue massage” refers to various regimens and specific massage styles that primarily focus on the deeper tissue structures of muscles, fascia, and connective tissues for general/ deep relaxation and/ or therapeutic effect. The term “deep tissue” is oftentimes confused with “deep pressure”, where the latter refers to the amount of force applied to the massage strokes/ movements. By contrast, deep tissue massage aims to treat the “belly” of the muscle, fascia, and connective tissues, and does not necessarily require the application of deeper pressures. It is important to note that deep tissue massage should never be painful, regardless of the applied pressure.
