Traditional Asian Massage

In much of Asia, health is thought to be based on the presence and proper flow of “vital” energies of the body. Western medicine is rooted in the sciences of anatomy and physiology, which study the body as separate from the mind and thus focus on problems of form and function. Asian medical philosophy views the mind, body and spirit as an indivisible and interdependent whole, where treatments are focused on restoring the balance and fluidity of the body’s energy system. As such, Asian massage aims to manipulate the deeper structures of the muscles, joints, fascia, and connective tissues, as well as the vital life energies of the body to attain a state of balance for deeper relaxation and therapeutic effect.
